General questions

Yes. Swimmly Swim School is open throughout the year for swimming lessons in Randburg. We only close for a short period over the festive season. Other than that, lessons continue throughout the year, including winter, in our heated indoor swimming facility.
Can we start lessons in the middle of a month or term?
Absolutely. New swimmers are welcome to join at any time during the year. If you start in the middle of a month or term, fees are charged on a pro-rata basis from your start date.
How many children do you allow in a class?
We try to keep our beginner classes to a maximum of three swimmers per instructor.
How many adults do you allow in a class?
Our beginner adult swimming classes typically have up to six swimmers in the pool with two instructors. More advanced adult classes may have up to four swimmers with a single instructor.
Do you offer a discount for siblings?
Yes. We are able to offer a sibling discount upon request. Please contact us for details.
Can I pay my swimming fees termly?
Yes. Swimming fees can be paid termly. Simply let us know your preference and we will invoice accordingly.
What age should my child start swimming lessons?
We assess children from the age of two years. Every child develops differently, and the assessment helps us determine the most suitable class and starting point for your little one.
What if my child is scared of water?
This is very common and nothing to worry about. Our instructors use a gentle, confidence-based approach to help children feel safe and comfortable in the water. We never force swimmers to do something they are not ready for. Building trust and positive experiences is at the heart of how we teach.
How long does it take to learn to swim?
Every swimmer is different. Progress depends on many factors such as age, fear of water, confidence, consistency and so on. Some swimmers gain basic swimming skills within a few months, while others may take longer. Our focus is on steady, lasting progress rather than rushing milestones.
What should my child bring to swimming lessons?
Your child will need a swimming costume and a towel. Goggles are optional. We do not use floaties or equipment that blocks the nose, as we focus on developing genuine water confidence and swimming ability.
How often should my child attend swimming lessons?
For most swimmers, one lesson per week is a great place to start. Consistency (don't miss lessons) is the most important factor when learning to swim. If we feel additional lessons would benefit your child, we will discuss this with you.
What happens during the first swimming lesson?
The first lesson is all about getting to know your child, learning the basic movements and getting used to the class structure.
Will my child be forced underwater?
Never. We do not force swimmers underwater under any circumstances. We believe confidence and trust are essential for long-term success in swimming and water safety.
Is the pool heated?
Yes. Our indoor swimming pool in Randburg is kept warm and comfortable throughout the year, including during winter.
Is the pool fully indoors?
Yes. Our pool is located inside a permanent indoor structure and is fully sheltered from the elements. No tents, no temporary covers - just a proper indoor swimming environment.
Do you offer make-up lessons?
We understand that life happens. Catch-up lessons are available in accordance with our catch-up lesson policy.
How do I enrol my child?
Simply send us a WhatsApp message with your child's age. We will arrange a free assessment, which usually takes only a few minutes. Once we have determined the most suitable class, we will send you the enrolment link.
How do you build water confidence?
We believe confidence comes from understanding. Our instructors help swimmers learn not only how to move through the water, but also how the water works and how their bodies interact with it. Every child is encouraged to learn at their own pace in a supportive, positive environment.
Why are swimming lessons important for children?
Swimming is a life-saving skill that every child should have. It helps children stay safer around water, improves fitness and coordination, builds confidence, and encourages a healthy, active lifestyle.
Are swimming lessons safe?
Safety is our highest priority. We maintain small class sizes, clear safety procedures and constant instructor supervision. Our lessons are designed to help children develop both swimming ability and essential water safety skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Do you offer swimming lessons for toddlers?
Yes. We assess children from the age of two years and place them in the most appropriate class based on their age, confidence level and current swimming ability.
Do you offer swimming lessons for adults?
Yes. Whether you're learning to swim for the first time or looking to improve your technique, we offer adult swimming lessons in Randburg in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Do you offer private swimming lessons?
At this stage, we do not offer private swimming lessons. We focus on small-group classes, which allow swimmers to receive plenty of individual attention while also benefiting from learning and building confidence alongside their peers.
My child has had a bad experience with swimming lessons before. Can you help?
Absolutely. Many of our swimmers come to us after a difficult or stressful experience elsewhere. We focus on building trust, confidence and positive associations with the water before introducing new skills.
